Very well done and I can’t wait for the next issue. However, I am a little biased to the amazing variant considering Yoda is on the cover. The artwork in this issue was stellar and both covers are fantastic. I’m not exactly sure what his role will be and how often he will be featured, but it’s definitely a welcomed sight and I’m looking forward to it. Now onto my favorite part of the issue, YODA’S CAMEO! Even though it was very small, I enjoyed seeing him in the issue. I look forward to see how her character develops. It’s pretty hysterical with how much she swears and struggles to communicate with the Masters. We are introduced to a new Padawan and she definitely seems to be an interesting and fun character. We are finally getting to explore an era prior to the Skywalker saga and I couldn’t be more excited. Like many Star Wars fans, I have been waiting for this book for quite some time. However, things get complicated fast as she must choose to complete the trials or rescue the innocent from disaster. As the Jedi prepare to launch their new Starlight Beacon, we get introduced to a new Padawan, Keeve Trennis, in the midst of her Jedi trials. As the Jedi are the protectors of the galaxy, they are establishing new station on the edge of the outer rim. Star Wars: The High Republic Issue: 1 Chapter One: “Trial By Ordeal” Publisher: Writer: Artist: Inker: Colorist: Cover: Variant: Letterer: Ariana Maher A new era of Star Wars storytelling begins here! Taking place centuries before the Skywalker saga, the High Republic takes us to the golden age of the Jedi. With promising new characters and an original story the writers can make up on their own, this proves a promising new series for Star Wars that I look forward to reading as it develops. After all, St ar Wars' history spans over 30 millennia. I hope to see Marvel explore more points in the series than just the movie times. It's one of the best I've read in even longer. This is the first Star Wars comic I've bought in a year and a half now. I preferred Dark Horse's version over Marvel's vastly and that still hasn't changed, but this new era is a bit reminiscent of the Dark Horse days. Star Wars has a rich history, and though Disney seems to have wiped most of it all away, it is nice to finally see something original again. This one seems to happen several centuries before. Since Marvel acquired the license they've limited themselves to those eras. One of the things I've missed from the Dark Horse days were the stories that explored Star Wars beyond the movies. It fits, I believe that this is the future of the Star Wars Comic book stories the younger fans will see first and learn that Star Wars is ever-expanding. Now, to mention my personal opinion Cavan Scott's writing and Ario Anindito's art really hit the point to make this era of Star Wars feel like the content that we are used to seeing like the Skywalker Saga. Keeve Trennis is in a tough spot, I will let you find out what happens by reading it for yourself, let me tell you, it gets better. As the situation grows more dangerous these insects attack Keeve, to protect the tribe of small creatures she takes a risk, a life or death situation. This test was to climb the giant needles to find a medallion and bring it to her master, without knowing that these pillars are home to a hive of huge Insects that are aggressive towards anyone, and to add, they only come out of their nest once every season, by there luck that season happened to be that exact day. These events are af ter that Jedi Master Sskeer gave the young Padawan a mission of sorts as a final test to pass her Jedi Trials and become a Jedi Knight. This edition of The High Republic takes place on a Planet called Shuraden which is inhabited by giant insects and a small tribe of species that live on this planet. Keeve Trennis a Jedi Padawan, who is the main character in this comic along with her Jedi Master Sskeer who is a Trandoshan which is a rare species to be a Jedi Master in the Star Wars Universe. Most characters that have an appearance are new and unique, except a chosen few that are still around at making an impact. Cavan Scott writer of the first comic of the series really brought the excitement to a whole another level. The chances are endless and can be explored through all Star Wars fans. Star Wars! A new era of mysteries and adventure, The High Republic.
